This morning at a special board meeting, the Mid-Del Board of Education approved revisions to our Return-to-School plan and has moved the start of the school year to begin August 24.
During the past month, the Oklahoma Department of Health has implemented a color-coded COVID-19 Alert System. Using this system, the Oklahoma State Department of Education has issued a set of school safety protocols. While the State Board of Education did not adopt these protocols as a mandate, we used them as a guideline for amending the plan we adopted on July 13. For that reason, we have made the difficult decision to begin the school year on Monday, August 24, using an alternating A/B schedule. We will make a decision about continuing in this format for another month in mid-September, following the data provided in updates from state and local health officials.
