Return to Learn Plan Revised: October 11, 2021
Since the September 7 special board meeting, we have continued monitoring our COVID positivity rates in the district, in Oklahoma County, and throughout the state of Oklahoma. We have seen a significant decline in the number of new positive cases and made the decision to set the following thresholds for the following protocols:
If COVID cases stay below .5% of the total student and staff population for two consecutive weeks (with the reporting period ending Thursdays), the district will eliminate mandatory quarantines for close contacts. The mask mandate will also be lifted in this case.
If COVID positive cases increase and exceed .5% for two consecutive weeks, the district would reinstate mandatory quarantines and the mask mandate (with previous opt-out notices continuing to be observed).
This threshold equates to 70 new confirmed positive Covid cases among staff or students in a single week (out of about 14,000 students and staff).
Since we have met these criteria, the quarantine requirement for close contacts and the mask mandate will be lifted, starting tomorrow, October 12. Mandatory quarantines will still be in place for all known positive cases, following guidelines established by the CDC, OSDH, and OCCHD.
Additionally, next week, at the beginning of the second academic quarter, we will resume previous practices with assemblies. Visitors will be allowed at each site at the principal’s discretion.
Mask-wearing is still welcome in our buildings and events. It is especially encouraged in our schools around students who are mostly unvaccinated.
