Do-Re-Mi Lyric Theatre

Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma brought their Interactive School Outreach Program to Pleasant Hill Elementary entertaining and educating students while also involving them in the performance. This year's program was a shortened production of “The Sound of Music.”

Do-Re-Mi Lyric Theatre

The “Sound of Music-Interactive” compares the story of the famous musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein and the real life of Maria Augusta Ketschera, upon whose life the musical is based. Using songs and scenes from the movie and stage musical, “The Sound of Music,” students interacted with historically-based characters such as Maria and Captain Von Trapp. They also played the roles of the Von Trapp children!  Students learned about “The Sound of Music,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “My Favorite Things,” and “Edelweiss.” As a parting gift, the students received a colorful study guide filled with fun facts, puzzles, and historical tidbits.

Lyric's Musical Interactive School Outreach Program is a grant-funded, non-profit run through the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma and is provided to schools at no cost. It is made possible by its generous donors: the Dr. Elliott and Pam Schwartz A-E-I-O-U Foundation, Devon Energy, and Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma's own funding.

So Long, Farewell
