Just over one year ago, the patrons of the Mid-Del School District came together to support a bold vision for the future of our schools, approving a $492,700,000 bond proposal aimed at making significant improvements district-wide. Since then, we’ve made remarkable strides in transforming that vision into reality. In this newsletter, we’re excited to share updates on the progress of various construction projects, including detailed renderings, as well as improvements to our security measures and recent purchases that enhance our students' learning environments. Thank you for your continued trust and investment in the future of our district! ONE District. ONE Family. #mdpurpose

Pre-K launched into an exciting dinosaur adventure this week, exploring the fascinating world of fossils! We were thrilled to welcome one of our wonderful parents, Mrs. Kimi Hardin, who joined us for a special lesson on fossils. It’s shaping up to be a roaring good time!

Kindergarten kicks off the year with an exciting 26-day challenge, where students learn one letter and its sound each day. To celebrate the end of this fun-filled journey, the class holds an ABC Fashion Show. Each child is assigned a letter and decorates it with objects that start with that letter. They then proudly walk the runway, showcasing their creativity and everything they’ve learned. It’s a wonderful way for each student to shine and share their accomplishments!

The U.S. Department of Education Announces 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools: Congratulations to the Schwartz Elementary Stallions! It’s the school’s third National Blue Ribbon School Distinction.
U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona today recognized 356 schools – including Schwartz Elementary in Mid-Del – as the 2024 cohort of National Blue Ribbon Schools. Schwartz is one of four schools in Oklahoma to be named a Blue Ribbon School in 2024.
This prestigious recognition highlights schools that excel in academic performance or make significant strides in closing achievement gaps among different student groups. “The National Blue Ribbon Schools Award is a testament to the exceptional achievements of students and educators at each of these schools,” said Cardona. “The 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools are raising the bar for our nation’s students, serving as models for effective teaching and intentional collaboration in their schools and communities. As we celebrate their achievements, let us look to these schools for inspiration as we champion education as the foundation of a brighter future for every child.”
The 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools reflect the full diversity of American education and serve students from all backgrounds. While awardees represent a wide array of schools, they share common traits. National Blue Ribbon Schools are led by leaders who articulate a clear vision of instructional excellence and uphold high standards. Collaboration among families, communities, and educators is a key component of their success.
Each nominated school submits a comprehensive application detailing its school culture, curriculum, assessments, instructional practices, professional development, leadership, family, and community involvement. Up to 420 schools may be nominated each year. The Department invites nominations for the National Blue Ribbon Schools award from the top education officials in all states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, the Department of Defense Education Activity, and the Bureau of Indian Education.
This is the third time Schwartz has been recognized as a Blue Ribbon School, having earned the honor in 2008 and 2015 as well. Superintendent Dr. Rick Cobb praised Principal Rondall Jones and the Schwartz staff for their commitment and consistency. “To gain this recognition once takes hard work. To earn it three times in 16 years means high expectations have been in place for a long time.”
Jones was also the principal in 2015 when the school was recognized. He added, “I am very excited for our school and district. We continuously strive for improvement. It takes students, teachers, administrators, parents, and the community to make this accomplishment happen.”

2024 NASA SEEC Conference!!
Mrs. Combs was chosen to attend this conference as a NASA OKSG participant. She represented all of the Mid-Del schools and her home site, Schwartz Elementary. Teachers from around the world came together for a four day conference learning all about space exploration. During this conference educators participated in different break out sessions where they were able to learn different methods of teaching students all about space exploration with the idea of getting students excited about space and STEM.
Mrs. Combs also trained like an astronaut by scuba diving in a pool and completing different challenges that astronauts are required to do in their training. She also went on different tours at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. The goal is to teach students that you don't have to be an astronaut to work for NASA.

Emersyn Dallas, a fifth grade student from Schwartz Elementary, led the Pledge of Allegiance during the Board of Education meeting tonight. Great job Emersyn! #mdpurpose
