House Bill 3958: Digital Communication with Students

Effective July 1, 2024, House Bill 3958 requires school personnel in Oklahoma to include a student’s parent or guardian in any digital communication with the student—unless the message is sent through a school-approved platform and pertains directly to school-related or academic matters.

This law is designed to promote transparency and increase parental involvement in school communications.

To help staff understand and comply with this new requirement, we have provided access to online training. Please refer to the training link HERE for additional guidance.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND COMMUNICATION

Welcome to Mid-Del Schools Community Relations & Communications!

At Mid-Del, we believe great schools are built on great relationships. Our Office of Community Relations & Communications is the heartbeat behind the stories, partnerships, and celebrations that connect our schools with the incredible community we serve.

What We’re All About

We don’t just share information — we tell the Mid-Del story. From spotlighting student success to celebrating our dedicated staff, we shine a light on the people and programs that make Mid-Del a district of excellence.

Our team works behind the scenes to build trust, foster support, and create meaningful connections through innovative communication strategies. Every post, press release, and partnership is rooted in one goal: supporting every child, every day.

Spreading the Good News

Whether it’s an academic achievement, a championship win, or a heartwarming classroom moment, we’re here to make sure the world knows what’s happening in Mid-Del! Our Director of Community Relations partners with local media outlets, state associations, and national networks to amplify the voices of our students, staff, and schools.

By working alongside the Superintendent, district leaders, and campus teams, we help ensure the Mid-Del mission is not only heard — but felt.

Bridging Schools and Community

We’re more than messengers — we’re connectors. Through strong partnerships with businesses, service organizations, and civic leaders, we open the door for community members to get involved in meaningful ways:

  • Volunteer in a classroom

  • Mentor a future leader

  • Cheer on student-athletes

  • Support the arts

Whatever your passion, there’s a place for you in Mid-Del.

Why Choose Mid-Del?

  • Celebrating Excellence: Our students and staff regularly shine on state and national stages. We celebrate their grit, heart, and achievements all year long.

  • Stronger Together: We believe in the power of partnerships — and we’re always looking to build more.

  • Community-Driven: From neighborhood volunteers to corporate collaborations, Mid-Del thrives on connection.

Let’s Team Up

Ready to make a difference? Whether you’re a parent, neighbor, business leader, or proud alum — you’re invited to be part of our story. Let’s create lasting partnerships that impact students today and shape the future of tomorrow.

Mid-Del Schools is proud to be a member of the Oklahoma School Public Relations Association (OKSPRA) — staying at the forefront of communication strategies and school PR best practices across the state and nation.
