
Verification of returning Mid-Del students opens July 5, 2023
Verification of RETURNING Mid-Del students will be completely online again this year. You will need the following documentation to upload for your RETURNING Mid-Del student:
1. Log in starting July 5th at 8 am. You will be receiving an email that will include login information and link to where you will log in.
2. Resident Affidavits and Special entry's will complete this process online this year as well.
Documentation Required:
1. Must provide 2 current (within 30 days) utility bills (gas, water, and/or electric). Service must be in the parent/guardian’s name and reflect the service address.
2. Cut-off or late notices presented AFTER the cut-off date will not be accepted without proof of payment.
3. Tinker Housing Office Verification (if applicable)
4. State or government issued ID

The Board of Education named Sara Small as an Intern for Del City Middle School for the 2023-2024 school year.
Sara Small is an alumna of Barnes Elementary, Carl Albert Junior High, and Carl Albert High School, class of 1995. She attended the University of Central Oklahoma, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education in 2004, and Master of Educational Leadership in 2017. She has been married to her partner, James, a Del City grad, for 25 years and they have three grown children who are all graduates of Carl Albert, like their mom.
Nicole, class of 2017, is currently serving in the Oklahoma Air National Guard and will graduate from UCO in December with a BA in Nursing. Avery, class of 2019, is currently deployed with the OKANG. When he returns, he plans to transfer from Rose State College to OU’s College of Engineering. Piper is a member of the graduating class of 2023 and this fall will head off to Oklahoma City University on a Dance Scholarship.
Ms. Small has been teaching for over 16 years, all but one of which have been in Mid-Del Public Schools. She taught at Jarman Middle School for five and a half years, before moving to her Alma Mater, Carl Albert High School, where she has been teaching for the last ten years. She is excited to be returning to her middle school roots by joining the team at Del City Middle School.


Sanctioning Meeting Information:
To be sanctioned in 2023-24, at least one OFFICER of the organization MUST attend a google meeting that is offered by the district to receive the instructions for submitting an application. If an officer has not attended a district meeting for this purpose, the organization will not be presented to the Board of Education for sanctioning.

Please help us welcome our new Eagle Director of Bands/Percussion Specialist, Mr. David (D.J.) Handy!
Handy was recently the Assistant Percussion Coordinator for the Rockwall High School feeder pattern in Rockwall, TX. Mr. Handy holds a Bachelor of Music Education, a Master of Music, and a Master of Music Education from the University of Oklahoma. He studied percussion under the guidance of Dr. Lance Drege, Dr. Andrew Richardson, and Dr. Ricardo Coelho de Souza. He studied music education with Dr. Michael Raiber, Dr. Charlene Dell, and Dr. Christopher Baumgartner. At the end of his undergraduate career, Mr. Handy received his certification to teach in the state of Oklahoma. During his time as an undergraduate, Mr. Handy taught at several different middle schools and high schools in the Norman area. He taught private lessons to middle school, high school, and undergraduate percussion students. While pursuing his Bachelor he performed on the OU Pride of Oklahoma snare line for two years and performed with several different ensembles including the OU Wind Symphony, OU Symphony Band, OU Symphony Orchestra, OU Jazz Band, OU Trombone Choir, OU Horn Ensemble, and other small chamber ensembles. He performed in the University of Oklahoma concerto Competition, placed 4 th in the Couer deLane International
Concerto Competition in Spokane, WA, and performed as a guest artist for the National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy. He student taught at Yukon Middle School and High School serving as the co-director of their Symphony Band and Jazz Band.
Mr. Handy started his graduate career at the University of Oklahoma in the fall of 2017 and graduated in December of 2019. During his time as a graduate student, he served as the instructor of record for the undergraduate music education course “Percussion Techniques” and the undergraduate non-major course “Beginning Drumset”. Mr. Handy was the director of the OU Percussion Ensemble, Percussion Technician for the OU Wind Symphony, and logistician for the OU Symphony Orchestra during their Houston tour. Mr. Handy performed with all of the aforementioned ensembles along with serving as the principal percussionist for the Vitam Musica Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Dylan Madoux, North American Saxophone Alliance Conference, the Oklahoma City Community Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Jamie Whitmarsh, and performed with the OU Graduate Percussion ensemble at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention chamber ensemble competition. After graduating in December, he served as the long-term substitute band director and teacher for the Classen School of Advanced Studies High School in Oklahoma City. He directed three wind
ensembles, one jazz band, and two sections of music theory. At the same time, Mr. Handy also taught music theory at the El Sistema Fine Arts after school program.
Through Mr. Handy’s experience at the University of Oklahoma, he had the privilege to work and study with renowned percussionists, composers, and educators such as the late Dr. David Maslanka, Dr. David Biedenbender, Dr. John Mackey, Dr. Roger Rideout, Mr. Josh Gottry, Dr. William Wakefield, Dr. Shanti Simon, and several others.
