Good afternoon Midwest City Middle School families.
A student made a threat against our school on social media. The Midwest City Police Department has filed charges against the student who made the threat. We take every threat seriously. All threats disrupt school, waste law enforcement resources, and put first responders in unnecessary danger. Please help us by reminding your student that threatening statements can cause serious legal and financial consequences. The student will not be returning to our school.
We want to ask our families to have conversations about responsible social media usage, especially the serious implications of making threats or sharing inappropriate and unverified content. Words matter. Students need to understand that these actions disrupt the learning environment and cause anxiety for everyone involved. If that doesn't drive the point home strongly enough, they need to know that any threat -- real or hoax -- can carry serious legal consequences.
We will not tolerate threats made against our schools and we will work with local law enforcement to pursue charges against any individuals who make a threat. Thank you for your support in helping keep our schools safe.
