How do I know if my child is ready for Pre-K?
Students who are ready for learning in Pre-K can:
Follow one-step instructions.
Understand the importance of rules and consequences.
Understand that print carries a message.
Count aloud by one to 10.
Recognize and name circles, squares, rectangles, and triangles.
Care completely for their own toileting needs.
Ask questions, make observations, and engage in play to explore the physical and natural world.
Recognize some letters in their name.
Give a trusted adult their guardian's first and last names.
Ask and respond to open-ended questions.
Take turns during play and in conversations.
Sit still for 5-10 minutes to listen to a story read aloud.
