Strong Readers Act

The Strong Readers Act emphasizes use of curriculum and instructional practices based on scientific research in order to prevent reading difficulties when possible, and provide instructional supports as early as possible. The ability to read proficiently by the end of third grade significantly reduces the need for remediation in middle and high school and lowers the risk of a student dropping out of school because he or she is unable to read.

In Mid-Del, we are committed to partnering with families to ensure that students are set up for success.  Starting in kindergarten, your child will be screened to track their progress toward becoming a proficient reader.  You will be notified of your child’s progress each year.  This webpage will be a resource for families to utilize to support literacy development in their students!
